“Let your roots grow down into Him, and let your lives be built on Him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.” Colossians 2:7 NLT
Until I moved to this rural area, I had been a city girl. So planting was NEVER a hobby. Since I’ve been here, I’ve planted and “lived off the land”…..well, so to speak. If you count making strawberry lemonade from a lemon tree and strawberry plant in my backyard “living”. But with some additional fruits and veggies back there, I have begun to understand the process of roots, growth, nourishment in a very natural, physical sense. Setting roots is kind of foreign to us right now in the sense that we are moving so often. But I can say that I have spiritual roots which transcends change and movement. I learn and grow everyday, but my roots tell me that there is a God who is love and wants me to live life abundantly. I think as a Christian, we can get wrapped around the axle on details, theology, church, tradition….but at the end of the day when it’s just me and God, I want to be overflowing with thankfulness.
