“Endurance is not just the ability to bear a hard thing, but to turn it into glory.” William Barclay
“You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.” Hebrews 10:36 NIV
So soccer and baseball season have begun and life has been very busy….overhelmingly actually. But today, it was a nice relaxing time to rest and in doing so, we saw the movie, The Perfect Game. It’s an older movie that I didn’t even realize was on my Netflix list, but there it came. I was surprised to learn of the true story of its account and the novel by the same name. What a remarkable story of a group of boys in Mexico in 1957 who overcame poverty, prejudice, family heartbreak and all the odds to do the unthinkable of winning a Little League series. The faith and determination of these young boys was an inspiration to me and my children. And to learn how that success led to amazing accomplishments, sports related and not, for the rest of their lives.
Oddly, these little boys taught me a thing or two about determination and endurance. Sometimes when life is comfortable, we get complacent. But when you are hungry for more and all that God has for you, you are more determined to carry out your purpose. I am truly inspired to not just bear a difficult situation, but turn it into an amazing testimony of God’s goodness and grace.
